Assessing management skills, capabilities and requirements of hospital managers
-
Abstract :
Introduction: Managers are the most important determinants of success and failure of organizations and social institutions (including hospitals) that rely on their skills to determine the fate of their environment and achieve the goals of the organization.
Materials and Methods: The present study is a PICO review study that evaluates the management skills, capabilities and requirements of hospital managers. The reviewed documents were searched in Google Scholar, Sid and Mag Iran databases using the keywords skill, management and hospital.
Findings: Managers need the following skills to be successful and effective in performing their duties: Ability and skill in public speaking, knowledge and information, writing skills, ability to research in various fields, time management and human communication. Management skills including: leadership, communication, motivation, decision making, planning, teamwork, performance measurement and evaluation, safety and health management, participation and communication with others, and problem solving. Interaction and communication are the most important skills and capabilities required by hospital managers. It can be identified five main areas of competence among all health managers, including communication and interaction skills, professionalism, leadership, knowledge and awareness of the health care system, and business knowledge and skills.
Conclusion: Hospital managers have a major role in supervising and directing human resources and promoting the efficiency and effectiveness of hospital activities. The ultimate goal of this group is to secure, maintain and ensure the health of the community; Therefore, these people must have management skills and competencies related to the hospital area.
