بازار پر نوسان، تغییر درخواستهای مشتریان، رقابت تنگاتنگ، مدیریت ریسک و لزوم نظارت دقیق، تنها گوشهای از ویژگیهای اکوسیستم کسبوکار است که بانکهای مدرن، امروزه عملیات خود را انجام میدهند. مدیریت هوشمندانه و نوآورانه، باعث تفاوت بین افراد موفق و ناموفق در بازار با این ویژگیها، است. راهکارهای هوش تجاری برای بانکها باید توانایی مدیریت و بهرهبرداری از منابع اطلاعاتی را در اختیار تصمیمگیرندگان تمامی بخشهای تجاری یک بانک قرار دهد تا بتوانند مشکلات را حل کنند و تصمیمهای بهموقع و باکیفیت بگیرند. سیستمهای هوش تجاری در بانکها باید برای کاربر نهایی جامع و درعینحال ساده باشد. هوش تجاری بسیاری از حوزههای بانک را پوشش میدهد و ازجمله مهمترین آنها میتوان به موارد زیر اشاره کرد: مدیریت ارتباط با مشتری (CRM) ، مدیریت عملکرد (PM) . مدیریت ریسک (RM). مدیریت دارایی و بدهی (ALM) و انطباق. انبار داده و فرآیندهای تحلیلی آنلاین (OLAP) مبنای اطلاعاتی را برای کاربرد هوش تجاری تشکیل میدهند. دادهکاوی و بازیابی دانش نیز بخشهای مهمی از هوش تجاری هستند و با تحلیلهای آماری پیچیده، کشف روابط «پنهان» بین دادهها و پیشبینی روندهای رفتاری سیستمهای تجاری سروکار دارند.
